Rev 1:5 To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood
We have been freed from our sins by his blood. He saw us and loved us and acted to free us, before we even knew him, or knew right from wrong, He set us free by his blood. As we contemplate the depths of our sin and the heights of his holiness we appreciate the value of his blood, we realise the price that was paid.
Everything has a value and we pay the price that we think something is worth. I am currently house hunting, all the houses I have been looking at are too much money. But that is the value the owners have placed on it. However, I know a lot of the houses will not go for the value the owner has placed on it but a negotiated value between buyer and owner. Everything sells – you just have to find the right price.
As a Christian, both the buyer and the seller (if you can excuse the crudeness) a in agreement. Jesus, gave his life as a ransom and purchased us for eternity – the trinity set the value and Jesus paid the price. The price was higher than you could ever imagine. We were not redeemed with perishable things such as silver or gold but with the precious blood of Jesus.
His blood sets us free. Freedom has been wrought in all areas – body, soul and spirit. Our Spirit is free, our souls are being freed (sanctification) and our bodies will be freed when we receive resurrection bodies. His blood has redeemed not only us, but creation too. Do not underestimate the power of his blood.
