Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you…

Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you ; he rises to show you compassion.

It is funny how you can read it, and it doesn’t touch the sides. When you can read a profound truth and you can see the truth of what it says, but you somewhere in your heart you think that is for someone else. That’s everyone elses experience, not mine. Yet there is a part that longs for that to be your experience too – and you pray, Lord deliver me from unbelief that I may live in the light of this truth. He longs….why do I think that it is not for me. I somehow think that I am an exception. I am useful while I do things. But that is the lie. The lie the enemy has cleverly sown into the fabric of your life, that only when you are doing are you valued. The treadmill never stops, and when you are crying out for a break you are reminded of all that you must do and the threat of loss. But that is not your Father. Did he say you must work to receive his approval? He said we must be still and know, that his yoke is easy and his burden is light. The revelation of the heart of the father is the breakthrough that will shatter the enemies projection into your life that perpetuates your striving. And then you will see him running towards you, you will see his longing to be gracious, you will see him rise to show you compassion – for he has seen you a long way off and is determined in his pursuit of you.
