The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you.
Sometimes I’m not sure if I have that knowledge, in context Jesus was talking with his disciples about the farmer sowing seeds, he goes onto say ‘to others I speak in parables’. I want to hear the secrets of the kingdom of God in plain speech, though there is something intriguing about parables in the hunger it places in you, to hear clearly is a great pleasure. My wonder is, was Jesus statement just for the disciples, or is this for us too? I know that sometimes it is true, but sometimes the lord does seem to speak in dark sayings. As I reflect, I believe that in context, he has revealed things about the kingdom of God to us too, spiritual things that only spiritual people can understand. The dark sayings, or parable like words relate to the day to day walk with the Lord and hearing his voice.
The conclusion then is, what are the secrets of the kingdom of heaven that he has revealed to us? Now I feel I may have to go back on what I said, as I … Read More »
Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses. (Joshua 1:3 ESV)
What I love about this verse is that the Lord has already given us the land. There is a tension of having been given the land, yet as Joshua went into the Land he had to fight to take it. The fight was with a certain victory. Israel never lost as long as they were walking with the Lord. Our relationship with him effects the victories we see. His desire is to give us the inheritance that is due, Yet Joshua found when they went up against AI, the sin in the camp and the presumption of the victory led to defeat. The paradox is that God has given us the land, yet we need to seek his wisdom and leading to take it..
And all who heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, “What then will this child be?” For the hand of the Lord was with him. (Luke 1:66 ESV)
There is a natural progression in people’s minds, knowing that if the hand of the lord is with someone there are no limits to what they will do. So my prayer is, Lord let your hand rest upon my life, for with you there are no impossibilities.
But say the word, and my servant will be healed. (Luke 7:7 NIV)
Just a word from Jesus heals, delivers, encourages. His word is powerful and effectual, it accomplishes the task for which it was set. It changes the atmosphere, it causes the demons to flee and hearts to be set on fire. Faith comes when we hear his whispers – we just need Him to say the word. Whether through quickened bible text or through supernatural hearing, a word form the Lord changes everything, the impossible becomes possible, the mountains are lowered and the valleys are raised up, the opposing opinions and difficult characters are reckoned as softened.
As it says ‘let me see your face, let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely’ (Song of Solomon 2:14 ESV). Your voice is sweet, and it is life, to not hear his voice would be a desert, a sentence that would make you insane. Once you have tasted of the heavenly things of his voice, of the kindness and love, how can you turn? Even in the midst of troubles and testings to hear his voice changes everything. Lord let me hear your voice more clearly than ever … Read More »
